Michael Hughes, PhD has received an R01 AR075017-01A1 from the NIH. The title is: “A Systematic Analysis of RNA Editing in Skeletal Muscle.” The aims of this study are to determine whether RNA editing influences skeletal muscle specialization using in silico approaches; testing whether muscle-specific trans factors regulate RNA editing by using in vitro cell culture; and testing whether RNA editing of Nebulin regulates sarcomere function using in vivo models.
