Cystic Fibrosis Service
In 1992, the care of adults with cystic fibrosis was transferred from St. Louis Children’s Hospital to the adult pulmonary service at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Under the direction of Daniel Rosenbluth, MD, the cystic fibrosis service now follows over 200 adult cystic fibrosis patients longitudinally. The inpatient cystic fibrosis service averages a census of 5-8 patients and benefits from a dedicated hospital unit, nurses, and respiratory therapists with experience and training in caring for patients with cystic fibrosis. Outpatient care is delivered in the multidisciplinary cystic fibrosis clinic.
Additionally, the cystic fibrosis service actively participates in clinical trials involving new therapeutics for patients with cystic fibrosis.
