The Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine is proud to announce that Andrew Roth, MD, Instructor of Medicine, has admitted to the Washington University Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) KL2 Career Development Awards Program as a KL2 Clinical Research Scholar beginning 01/01/2026. The WashU KL2 Program is a competitive, NIH-funded career development program at that supports early-stage clinical and translational investigators. Dr. Roth receives protected research time, structured mentorship and additional support in his research efforts. His research has focused on the mycobacteria-host co-metabolism of cholesterol during infection. Unique metabolites, which accumulate in the lungs and sputum of tuberculosis patients, have the potential to serve as diagnostic
biomarkers and therapeutic targets. His research now seeks to extend his findings to
patients with non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections. We congratulate Dr. Roth on his outstanding efforts.
