Drs. Amit Bery and Andrew Roth have been awarded the 2023 Dean’s Scholars Award, which supports outstanding MD-only individuals committed to a career as a physician-scientist here at Washington University. This program alleviates the scholar’s financial stress and provides mentorship, institutional support, and the protected time necessary to generate data and publications.
Dr. Amit Bery’s research project is titled “Role of interleukin-1 beta in the prevention of lung allograft rejection.” His mentor is Daniel Kreisel, MD, PhD.
Dr. Andrew Roth’s research project is titled “Understanding the role of cholesterol co-metabolism in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.” His mentor is Jennifer Philips, MD, PhD.
