Research Interests

My research interests are focused in translational studies of chronic lung diseases and lung transplantation, including the roles of respiratory virus infections on disease progression, transplant rejection, and the development of diagnostics and treatments. I led the Pulmonary Morphology Core for 10 years and helped to build a biobank of human lung tissues from patients with advanced lung diseases and non-transplantable donors that is used by multiple research groups within and outside PCCM. My experience in translational and clinical research is complemented by my role as Executive Chair with the Washington University IRB.
