Omar Osorio, PhD, a postdoctoral research fellow in the lab of Jennifer Alexander-Brett, MD, PhD, has been named a recipient of a 2026 Henry Christian Award from the American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR).
The Henry Christian Awards are among the AFMR’s National Awards and recognize the presenting or first authors of the most outstanding abstracts submitted to the organization’s national meeting. Established in 1990 in honor of AFMR founder Dr. Henry Christian, the award celebrates early-career investigators for high-impact contributions to biomedical and translational research. Founded in 1940, the AFMR is an international, multidisciplinary organization dedicated to fostering biomedical and patient-oriented research.
Dr. Osorio is among a national cohort of 2026 Henry Christian Award recipients drawn from institutions across the United States and abroad. AFMR National Award winners will be celebrated at an award program on September 25, 2026.
His achievement reflects the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine’s mission to advance the field through research and to educate the next generation of leaders.
