Research Interests
Dr. Thayse Brüggemann’s research focuses on elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate the resolution of lung inflammation and determining how disruption of these pathways contributes to chronic inflammatory lung diseases. Her work integrates experimental models of allergic airway disease with mechanistic immunology, and lipid mediator biology. She is particularly interested in understanding how specialized pro-resolving mediators regulate the phenotype and function of immune cells including eosinophils, macrophages, dendritic cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes to restore tissue homeostasis while preserving host defense. Her research has identified novel mechanisms through which pro-resolving pathways regulate allergic inflammation and have provided important insights into therapeutic strategies for asthma and other inflammatory lung diseases.
By integrating spatial transcriptomics with functional immunology and translational studies, she seeks to identify cell-specific regulatory networks that govern inflammation resolution within the lung microenvironment. Her long-term goal is to discover targetable pathways that restore immune homeostasis and improve outcomes in inflammatory lung diseases. Through collaborative, interdisciplinary research, Dr. Brüggemann strives to bridge fundamental immunology and translational medicine to advance the development of innovative therapies for pulmonary disease.
