Interests

Coming from a background in emergency medicine, my clinical interests center on extending high-quality critical care beyond the physical and organizational boundaries of the ICU to ensure timely delivery at the first point of contact — whether in the pre-hospital setting, the emergency department, or the transition between emergency department and ICU. I’m particularly drawn to emergency department-based ICU models as one expression of this. I’m also interested in extracorporeal life support in its many forms — namely, pushing the boundaries of resuscitation when doing so serves the patient. My research interests revolve around process and quality improvement, in addition to operational design.
